Since its founding in 2009, REST (Real Escape from the Sex Trade) has grown from a hopeful startup to a dedicated service provider our community knows and depends on, providing pathways to freedom, safety and hope for victims of sex trafficking and people being exploited in the sex trade. REST offers a full continuum of care to victims and survivors with programs for prevention, intervention, and restorative care. We reach individuals through our Emergency Receiving Shelter, 24-hour Hotline, Outreach, Drop-in Center, Community Advocacy, Case Management, and Residential Housing programs. We seek to reach as many individuals as possible with the message that they deserve to be loved.

Our goal is simple at REST—freedom, safety, and hope for victims of sexual exploitation. Over the last nine years, REST has provided the greater King County area with reliable, effective resources for victims and survivors of sex trafficking. Through our holistic continuum of care— prevention, intervention, and restorative care—we serve individuals of all ages and genders who are being exploited in the sex trade. REST values the unique strengths and needs of each individual, and provides services which are relationship-based, individualized, and trauma-informed. We believe everyone is worthy of love.

WHAT & WHY

2 DIFFERENT WORKSHOPS;

ONE AWESOME EXPERIENCE

Catered to the beginner or skilled creative looking to make art with their hands, while being around amazing women. Great for creating custom-made gifts, or a day to feel pampered and experience artistry, sublime aesthetic, and beauty.

Instructor shows easy tutorial/technique/ ideas for at home use. Guests can select from one of the workshops, and receive a bonus 30 minute creative play time and instruction from the alternate artistic medium. Creative artisans and local small businesses join together to curate an unbelievable experience just in time for Mother's Day pampering or a relaxing Saturday girl hang.

Part of the proceeds from each ticket sale is donated directly to support REST, Real Escape from the Sex Trade. You are a part of change. Helping women, advocating for women in our city; yes! Social Creative is about that.

SELECT ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

FLORAL WORKSHOP

Teressa Johnson Studio shows easy tutorial, technique, & ideas for at home design. Guests walk through creating a floral arrangement using a compote vessel and florals that would be found in accessible places like Pike Place, Farmers Markets, and grocery store. This course is designed to teach fundamentals, but will show design variations and intricacies for a range of skills and custom designs. Through Teressa's thoughtful teaching guests will learn how to use various textures, and found florals to create a one of a kind design.

BONUS CREATIVE TIME: Learn from The Mint Gardener and create your own watercolor card to take home. Play with color and wash, including gold accent paint. Take home your paintbrush and watercolor card.

WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP

Watercolorist Sarah Simon of The Mint Gardener will teach with easy to follow tutorials and techniques to confidently create beautiful art. Guests will walk through tracing and painting a watercolor floral design themselves - starting from one of Sarah's beautifully drawn pieces. Guests will trace their own art, followed by watercolor. The session teaches several techniques in watercolor and provides confidence to use your own creative freedom to design the perfect pieces at home. Join us to paint cards for friends and family, or make a lovely wall hanging.

BONUS CREATIVE TIME: Learn from Teressa Johnson Studio and create your own foliage bundle hand-tied with delicate silk ribbon. Play with texture, placement and how to preserve your bouquet for future enjoyment.

Check in, mingle with small bites and beverages. Class is a 1.5 hour session of teaching and hands-on designing, followed by additional 30 minutes of design play time in alternate art medium.

In order to maximize individual learning time, we are keeping workshop to boutique size.
